Patrol Lt.

Lt. Smith began his career with the Tell City Police Reserves in 2002, before being hired full time in 2004.  Lt. Smith graduated the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 2005 and later returned to earn his Instructor Development Certification to teach law enforcement, specializing in Emergency Vehicle Operations. He currently holds other certifications to teach as a Taser instructor; Standardized Field Sobriety Instructor; TOPS Instructor; along with an Emergency Medical Technician State Certification. During Lt. Smith’s time in patrol he received a life saving award;  meritorious service award; and the hometown hero award. In 2015 Lt. Smith received his promotion to detective then Lieutenant. He now holds a certification for being a forensic interviewer for victims of child crimes.  Lt. Smith also serves as a Hostage Negotiator/Crisis Intervention.
